Talks and DVD shown at Ockbrook School given to various student year groups,
went well. Young Persons leaflet and other literature provided to students and
staff.
Royal Derby Hospital AA meetings twice weekly. Very positive with patients
attending, also one member of staff attending outside meetings following
hospital hospital meetings. 12 Step message carried at each meeting.
Several talks throughout the course of a morning were given at Aldercar Language
College, where a DVD was also used. One girl came to the womens meeting in
Beeston with a school liaison member.
Talk given to staff at Derby Housing Trust - an organisation whose clients have
drug and alcohol problems. Very positive feedback and would like us to make a
return visit. Also the possibility of talking to a client group.
There appears suddenly to be a shortage of alcohol support groups in Derbyshire
at present. Funding has ceased and there have been closures due to withdrawal of
funding. Normal practice is that a new agency is set up and funding put in
place, however, there does not appear to be any plans for this usual practice to
be carried out in the near future. It is imperative, therefore, that we make
contact with groups who may be interested in AA raising awareness. We shall
continue to carry out this service and re-visit previous contacts by email or
telephone calls.
